The Lakes Life
The centerpiece of The Lakes community is Lake Sahara, a man-made lake surrounded by custom homes, with a small public park at each end. Built from the mid-1980’s to the mid-1990’s, The Lakes comprises gated communities, non-gated neighborhoods and condominiums.
The community features wide tree-lined curved streets, and shaded mini-parks offer peaceful retreats from the busy-ness of Las Vegas.
Originally built at the far west end of town, The Lakes is now surrounded by retail and restaurants and has a large public library, Sahara West Library, nearby. The library offers books, movies and books on tape, as well as a large children’s area and public use computers. The library frequently offers exhibits and events of interest to the general public.
Minutes west of The Lakes is Downtown Summerlin, a mall with a fantastic variety of restaurants, large and small retail venues and the Regal Cinemas.
Not into shopping? Red Rock National Conservation Area with its miles of hiking and biking trails and magnificent vistas is a year-round favorite. The Red Rock Loop offers a great bike ride with elevation changes and scenic pull outs that will energize the rider to continue.
And The Strip? It is only a short drive east on Sahara Avenue.
